The Black Lives Matter movement has dramatically increased visibility of the sustained violence against Black communities in the U.S. and globally. The Movement for Black Lives Platform was articulated by a collective of more than 50 organizations representing thousands of Black people from across the country who have come together with renewed energy and purpose to articulate a common vision and agenda.
Join us on Sunday, March 12, at 7pm to discuss the Black Likes Matter platform and to learn how the movement is organizing locally and how to support the struggle. Razhie Seals will lead the discusison. Rahhie is a activist and organizer with Black Lives Matter and Black Cuse Pride, and a Green Party candidate for 4th District Councilor.
The Green Party of Onondaga County recognizes the Movement for Black Lives Platform as a critical document for understanding the struggles of oppressed people in the US and the policies necessary to deconstruct structural racism and to guarantee equal rights for all of us.
More details to come. To best participate in this discussion, please familiarize yourself with the Movement for Black Lives platform.
In addition to discussing the significance and content of the movt for Black Lives Platform, we will also hear about work local Black Lives Matter (BLM) activists are engaged in to fight back against police violence against people of color in Syracuse. Financial contributions will be collected to support local BLM work.
Because the meeting is near dinner time, there will be pizza! Please RSVP. Space is limited.
