GPNY Local Election Campaign Training Session

Run for Local Elected Office w/ Green Party of NY

The Green Party believes that its average New Yorkers, not out of state landlords, nor private equity, that should determine the future of where you live. Your county, your city, your town, your village has the power to fundamentally improve what your everyday looks like. But they don’t use this power. Often, our municipal buildings, high school auditoriums, and rec centers are filled with councils that are languishing. They have the same parties, and the same approach. And when they get an opportunity, they delegate it away to managers and lawyers hired based on connections––not brilliance. They send it to boards made of appointed friends, not subject matter experts. And they count on us being uninterested in what could be.

All of this changes, and changes fast, when you step up and run.

Join GPNY on January 20th at 8 p.m., for starter discussion about what running for office feasibly looks like in 2026, and what realistic expectations you should have. We will talk about what qualities are helpful (like public speaking, good time management, genuine commitment, and authenticity), what modern campaigns for local office look like, and what supports you will need. We will also go introduce some of the exercises, such as power mapping, unpacking your network, and owning your story.
