Scores marched on the streets of New York City on Saturday, October 24, to demonstrate against police brutality and racial profiling in the country.
The march, under the ‘#RiseUpOctober’ slogan, has been called by the Stop Mass Incarceration Network to “bring the reality of police terror and mass incarceration directly to the people,” while exposing the “racially-biased” practices of the justice system in the US.
An increase in unlawful arrests and the killing of black people in recent years has sparked campaigns against police brutality and racial profiling in the US, including the prominent ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement.
