Rotzler Contributes Green Video Response to 2006 SotU

New Paltz's Rebecca Rotzler Featured in Green Party Rebuttal to Bush's State of the Union

Rebecca Rotzler, Green Party of the United States Co-Chair, Green Party of New York State Committeeperson, and Deputy Mayor of the Village of New Paltz, was one of five nationally-representative Greens who contributed video responses to the Bush State of the Union address.

Ms. Rotzler spoke about the value of electing Green Party candidates into office. As Deputy Mayor of New Paltz, she and Mayor Jason West, also a Green, have installed solar panels on the municipal building roof to produce clean energy, bicycle racks to encourage people to bicycle to work, and reed beds to filter village wastewater.

"As members of the Green Party, Jason and I bring key Green values to our elected office: Grassroots Democracy, Social and Economic Justice, Non-Violence, and Ecological Sustainability," said Ms. Rotzler. "By reducing our community's reliance on oil and protecting the environment, we can help stop the cycle of war and occupation over resources and leave the world a better place for our children." Ms. Rotzler can be reached at villageofnewpaltz.org.

The other four Green Party rebuttals feature Green Party candidates on the Iraq War and impeachment; health care; energy and global warming; and democracy and local issues.
