The Certified Election Results for the 2006 election in New York State have been posted by the NYS Board of Elections.

Unfortunately, Malachy McCourt, the Green Party candidate for governor, only received 42,188 votes. That means that the Green Party in NYS will not regain the ballot status it had lost in 2002.

The good news from is that the Green Party in NYS collected close to 30,000 signatures this Summer in its efforts to get its candidate for governor on the ballot. That successful petition drive means that the Green Party in NYS retained the right to have NY voters enrolled in the party, and anyone registering to vote in NY can still enroll in the Green Party.

If you are not enrolled Green, please get a voter registration form at your local post office, library, or Board of Elections, (or you can click here for an online form and more information) and on the line for party choice that says, "Other", write in: Green.
