We are grassroots activists, environmentalists, advocates for social justice, nonviolent resisters and regular citizens who’ve had enough of corporate-dominated politics. Government must be part of the solution, but when it’s controlled by the 1%, it’s part of the problem. The longer we wait for change, the harder it gets. Don’t stay home on election day. Vote Green.

Everything we do is based on our four pillars:

Our country's long wars and worldwide military presence are immoral and unsustainable. Our military budget must be cut dramatically.

The human cost of climate change is too high. We need to get off fossil fuels and on to clean renewable energy.

Falling wages and rising bills are hitting most of us, and the most vulnerable are hit the hardest. We believe in a living wage and a real safety net.

We demand public financing of elections, open debates, and more representative voting systems.

Green Party Blasts DNC’s Attack against The New York State Board of Elections & Congressional Candidate Greenfield

NEW PALTZ, NY — Green Party officers condemned the unprecedented legal action by the Democratic National Committee that seeks to prevent the New York State Board Of Elections from exercising its lawful function of ruling on the specific objections local Democrats filed to the petition of Green candidate Steven Greenfield, of New Paltz, in New York’s 19th Congressional District.

GPNY Executive Committee Statement In Support of Transgender Rights

There has been considerable discussion over the last few weeks within the Green Party about transgender rights. The Lavender Caucus of the Green Party of the United States issued a statement calling on the state Green Party of Georgia to retract its endorsement of the “Declaration on Women’s Sex-Based Rights” or face decertification by the national party. Some Greens have condemned Georgia’s actions outright while others have called for a respectful dialogue to facilitate understanding of the different points of view.

Green Party Condemns Cuomo Plan to Kill Third Parties in State Budget

The Green Party today blasted the reported plan of Gov. Andrew Cuomo to put higher ballot access thresholds for third parties into the state budget. “Cuomo wants to rule without challenge from his left by the Green Party. He wants to sneak higher ballot access requirements designed to kill third parties in New York while the public is preoccupied with the coronavirus crisis,” said Howie Hawkins, who received 4.8% of the vote as the Green candidate for governor in 2014.

GPNY Statement on the COVID-19 Pandemic and NY State Budget

The world faces an unprecedented crisis in the form of the coronavirus pandemic. New York has become the epicenter of the outbreak in the United States, and the actions taken here will have an outsized impact on the course of the crisis.  It is imperative that New York’s elected officials choose a path that empowers the working class, people of color, and low-income families, rather than the wealthy. During this crisis acts that were considered extraordinary yesterday will be enacted tomorrow. It is up to those of us in the Green Party and on the Left to ensure that those measures benefit working New Yorkers, and that we push for the most comprehensive, democratic, and ecosocialist version of those measures.

Killing off New York's Third parties - Not Today!

The New York State Green and Libertarian Parties applaud the State Supreme Court ruling that stopped the Democratic Party's attempt to assassinate smaller political parties. Justice Ralph Boniello Thursday tossed out the law establishing a commission purportedly set up to create a system of publicly financed campaigns, but instead deviated into attacks on third party and independent candidates. The Judge ruled that the measure creating the panel was "an improper and unconstitutional delegation of legislative authority."

Greens to Cuomo: Fix the Budget with Single-Payer, Taxing the Rich, and Public Power

Green Party officials said Gov. Cuomo had proposed an austerity budget and that his refusal to adopt truly progressive policies meant working class New Yorkers would continue to suffer. Green officers said now was the time for single-payer, universal health care (New York Health Act) to be passed as it would cover all New Yorkers besides reducing state and local budget expenses, and help permanently close the Medicaid budget gap.

GPNY Statement on Cuomo's 2020 State of the State Address

The Governor of the State of New York has yet again completely ignored the planetary climate emergency at a time when strong leadership is desperately needed. Not one of his 30+ proposals directly addressed the climate crisis, and they barely touched on other pressing issues facing New Yorkers (like the need for single-payer healthcare or progressive taxation to close the $6 billion budget gap). Governor Cuomo prefers small-bore, low-stakes reforms because they pose no threat to his wealthy donors.
